Sonnets from the Portuguese

My guess would be sometime in the 1950s for a publication date.

These sonnets were originally love sonnets written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Robert Browning who insisted they be published. She thought they were too personal so had them published as if they were translations. Hence the title-- 

She chose Portuguese because of Robert Browning's pet name for her: "my little Portuguese".

Would pair well with Virginia Woolf's "Flush: A Biography" which is about Barrett Browning's pet dog.
