a 1989 paperback edition of this choreopoem by Ntozake Shange

written for the stage in 1974, this poem's show won critical acclaim at the Public Theater and on Broadway here in New York City. This past summer it was rereleased on Broadway and I was fortunate enough to see it and cannot recommend it live enough. If you don't have access to a live showing of this, then bide your time reading it so that when you do get access your brain is already marinated in Shange's rhythms and words.
