I know I keep going on about this Elizabeth Bishop biography and its fairly mean because I don't have it available to purchase even! But after living in Brazil for many years with architect Lota de Macedo Soares, her lover, Elizabeth Bishop was asked by Life Magazine to write a travel guide of Brazil. So obviously I had to find it and did! So here is a travel guide by the brilliant Elizabeth Bishop... I don't think she loved writing it and while she was writing it her relationship with Lota was breaking up-- nevertheless, I love that it exists. And I love knowing the ways poets and writers pay the bills.
